Crash Near Joppa on I-95 Caused Lunchtime Traffic Congestion

There was more than a mile-long backup, transportation officials said.

A crash slowed traffic on Interstate 95 for travelers headed south on Thursday, according to Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

At approximately 1:15 p.m, two left lanes were shut down on I-95 south so first responders could clear the scene between the exit for MD Route 152 and MD Route 24, the fire company reported. Joppa-Magnolia and Abingdon Fire were at the scene, according to the report.

All lanes had reopened by 2:15 p.m., according to the Maryland Transportation Authority, which said traffic was backed up for 1.5 miles during the closure.
