Hickory Hills Condominium Fire Displaces More Than 20 People

The blaze on Crocker Drive in Bel Air was reported after 4 a.m. Thursday.

At least 22 people, many of them reportedly elderly, were displaced due to a condominium fire in Bel Air Thursday morning, according to Harford County fire officials. No injuries were reported.

The blaze in the 200 block of Crocker Drive was reported just after 4 a.m. and was declared under control at 6:01 a.m., Volunteer Fire & EMS spokeswoman Jennifer Chenworth Price said.

Many tenants of Hickory Hills, the condominium complex where the fire broke out, were elderly, according to ABC 2 News.

At least 22 people were displaced by the fire and were temporarily relocated to the American Legion Post 39 on Hickory Avenue for shelter, according to Price.

Bel Air Volunteer Fire Chief Eddie Hopkins said the condominium on Crocker Drive was "completely destroyed" and some peripheral buildings received fire and water damage, ABC 2 News reported.

The fire department remained on the scene performing "extensive overhaul operations" after 6 a.m. Thursday, according to Price, who said the fire marshal was investigating the incident.
