Body Found at Construction Site Off Cedar Lane: Harford Sheriff's Office

The death is being investigated as suspicious, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a man found dead in a vehicle off Cedar Lane Wednesday afternoon, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The man in his mid twenties was found at a construction site on Cedarday Drive near Woodtop Way, Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesman Eddie Hopkins said. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 2:10 p.m.

"We're not sure how long he's been there," Hopkins said of the deceased man, who had not yet been identified.

Workers found the man in a black car parked on a construction site for the Estates at Cedarday, a development under construction, The Aegis reported. The newspaper said that workers saw a pail inside the vehicle and so first responders initially treated the call as a chemical suicide, meaning the man may have mixed a deadly vapor inside the car.

The Harford County Hazmat Response Team responded and determined there were no chemicals involved although there was a bucket that contained a "black ash," Hopkins told Patch.

The street was closed for 45 minutes so officials could investigate, according to Hopkins.

"Right now, we’re treating it as a suspicious death—possibly suicide, but not a chemical death," Hopkins said.

The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy, which would help investigators determine the cause of death, Hopkins said.

A resident of Woodtop Way said her husband noticed the vehicle Tuesday morning, which was "unusual" because it was parked at the construction site when there were no workers around, according to The Aegis.
