Dog Finds Temporary Shelter at Bel Air Firehouse

Bella was stranded after her owners were in a car crash on March 14 in Forest Hill.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Department had a visit from a four-legged friend Thursday night after a rescue in Forest Hill.

Crews responded to a reported crash with entrapment on Route 24 at Spenceola Parkway at approximately 7:23 p.m.

After extricating a man and his young daughter from the vehicle and transporting them to a regional trauma center, crews were left with one more occupant, said Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

Inside the car was the man and girl's dog, Bella.

"The crew of E315 took heart with the dog's plight and decided to care for her until members of her family could pick her up," Gardiner said. "They took her back to the Bel Air VFC, where she played and was well pampered until a family member arrived to pick her up."
