Edgedwood Man Charged in Triple Shooting

An Edgewood man was being held without bail at the Friday in connection with a Tuesday triple shooting that police say stemmed from an ongoing dispute.

Jamar Jefferson, 28, of the 1700 block of Judy Way in Edgewood, was charged Wednesday with use of a firearm in a violent crime and three counts each of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, police said.

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the 1900 block of Edgewater Drive after shots were fired in the area, said , spokeswoman with the .

When deputies arrived, they said they found two men, later identified as Derek Burgess and Martin T. Bradley, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a release from the sheriff's office.

Burgess, 43, of the 1600 block of Swallow Crest Drive in Edgewood, was transported by ambulance to John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, according to the sheriff's office.

Bradley, 25, of the 1900 block of Edgewater Drive, was taken by ambulance to .

Family members of a third gunshot victim took him to Upper Chesapeake. Investigators said they determined this man, William L. Coles, 37, of the 1800 block of Edgewater Drive, was also a victim of the Edgewater Drive shooting.

Investigators believe the shooting was connected to a "long standing dispute," between Jefferson and Burgess, according to the release.

Burgess remains in critical condition at Johns Hopkins Bayview. Bradley and Coles were released from the hospital before Friday morning.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled to take place June 6 in .
