Get rid of Gabriel Brothers and 3/4 of the problems in that shopping center go away.
Mildred M. Samy December 24, 2011 at 03:07 AM
Exactly what are you trying to imply, Steve???
jj December 24, 2011 at 03:32 AM
I think he is saying that Gabriel brothers makes people so angry they rob other stores in the shopping center!!!
Rebecca December 24, 2011 at 06:01 AM
I have seen so much shoplifting/price tag switching in Gabe's it is ridiculous! Every time I go there, I end up talking with the manager to point out the folks who are shoplifting or price-tag switching their purchases. I truly don't get it. It is such a bargain basement store to begin with, so I don't understand why people try to cheat them even more. Shoplifting/price tag switching is STEALING and a CRIME. Wish all these scofflaws would get caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent. Their crimes result in higher prices/cost for the rest of us honest Americans.

Edgewood, abington has turned into a dump like balt city. I watched the lowlifes just throw there trash out the car windows. Drug dealing lowlifes. Harford county is a great place to live we don't need this crap up here. Take it down to balt city where it doesent matter
Proud to be liberal December 24, 2011 at 11:38 AM
Nick: You need to move to Mississippi where that type of racist talk is accepted.
Aaron December 24, 2011 at 12:35 PM
PtbL, what part of nick's statement is racist? How should he have phrased it to be race neutral? You on the other hand feel perfectly comfortable calling the entire state of Mississippi, a racist state. I guess your thoughts are pure because you believe yourself to be liberal. I don't care who throws their trash out their car window, it's very low life and disgusting!
Honey West December 24, 2011 at 12:57 PM
I'm glad no one was hurt during this robbery. That is what is important!
Take Responsibility! December 24, 2011 at 01:24 PM
Why are people so quick to throw the race card around? Oh wait, liberals like to do that at every turn, silly me, forget I said anything.
jmh December 24, 2011 at 02:43 PM
Nick is stating the facts, not an opinion.
Eric bel air December 24, 2011 at 03:08 PM
The employees chased the robbers? Nice to try to be a hero but it's not your money (or sandwich since we don't know what was taken).. not worth getting shot/stabbed trying to be a hero..
Nick December 24, 2011 at 03:26 PM
Not sure I see any racist talk in his statement, but I do in yours. What exactly is wrong with Mississippi? Why would you generalize an entire state as racist? Have you ever even been their? Funny how liberals throw around the race card whenever it suits them but don't have a problem expressing their own racist views. I guess what you are saying is that littering is a crime only committed by one race?
Ed Jr. December 24, 2011 at 04:41 PM
Proud to be liberal... What racist talk? Sounds like you've been brainwashed by the Reverands Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
MVPHKR December 24, 2011 at 05:11 PM
I didn't see any mention of race in Nick's comments. But since you've raised the issue...do you not understand the wildly disproportionate involvement of blacks in crime? Do you not see what has happened, not just in Edgewood, but in every single community in this region, that has experienced an influx on blacks moving in? All over Harford County, former Baltimoreans talk about their old neighborhoods, and they speak euphemistically about what life in those communities was like before they "changed". Having fled the litter, crime, and low-brow culture that drove them out, they are loathe to see it follow them here to Harford County. That doesn't make them racists, and If you don't understand that, you are not a "proud liberal", but a blind one.

Please tell me how shutting down Gabriel brothers where price tag switching occurs would have stopped Subway from getting robbed I used to see that same behavior in what used to be Hecht's now known as Macy's. Also what the heck does Mississippi have to do with it, please let me know what I'm missing??? Does everyone have trouble sticking to the subject...... Subway was robbed and the robber left on foot and when the dedicated employees of subway gave chase they were shot at. Im glad no one was hurt in that incident not sure what the employees were thinking or if they were, I tell my teenage daughter who works at a "not so fast" food chain daily, its not your money and no amount is worth your life. At this point I will save my frustration for MVPHKR. Your comment stating BLACKS moving in is very hurtful. Where should us blacks go? I would just appreciate moral, kind, respectful neighbors regardless of skin color. Does this mean your are a racist? I've lived in Harford County my entire life and one thing is for sure it appears crime and hate are both spreading.
L Scott December 24, 2011 at 09:38 PM
I used to think the city doesnt matter either and look what has happened. The city did a sweep and we received the leftovers.
Jonathan B December 25, 2011 at 12:45 AM
I have to put in a comment on this subject. I am from Baltimore City and proud of it. As far as the remarks of "low lifes" from Baltimore City is concerned, There are good and bad people who are rich and poor. Rich or poor can be a "low life." Enron, American Airlines, Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and Halliburton are examples. I could go on and on. Don't forget all the political scandels involving our Democratic and Republican representatives. Check Wikipedia free encyclopedia. The point is, people are too quick to designate a certain race, class or ethnic group of people as thieves, scoundrels and such. There are bad seeds all over. Taught values has a lot to do with how they turn out in life. In the final analysis, people have to be responsible for their actions, good or bad. Unless a person is mentally ill, they are responsible for their own actions. That's another thing. There are too many shyster lawyers using mental illness as a reason to get their clients off a murder or assault charge. There are too many people ready to make excuses for illegal behavior. I get sick of white and black people making racist remarks to justify their beliefs and prejudices. Blacks say they are picked on because they are black. Whites say that blacks commit crimes because they are black. The bottom line is people need to quit making excuses and take responsibility. Quit being so judgmental of other people from a certain area.

L Scott, many of your neighbors believe that because someone in their family made a money working in Baltimore, drove burning cheap gas and moved to the exurbs of Harford County they earned the right to avoid the social consequences of three hundred years of racism. Yes, they sound hateful. But...Surprise, y'all: you're still in America! And y'all will have to learn eventually to get along with Black people and Latino people. Hey, y'all might even have to move your whole family back to Baltimore when gas goes to $8 per gallon. Oh, about Baltimore City, semi-literate Nicki: we have been electing your public officials for years and years. My vote cancels yours every single time, I am proud to say.
MVPHKR December 25, 2011 at 09:01 AM
I'm sorry your feelings were hurt, but it appears you didn't read my comments correctly. The law allows any of us to live anywhere he wishes, and I do not dispute that, so you can "go" anywhere you want. I was merely noting that throughout Baltimore, when neighborhoods "changed", the color of the residents was not the only change that occurred. If that statement of fact offends you, I suggest you direct your ire toward those whose lawlessness made those communities what they are today.
MVPHKR December 25, 2011 at 09:07 AM
Ah, yes, the slavery excuse...the reason why young black males, six or seven generations removed from slavery, are more lawless and sociopathic that those who experienced slavery and Jim Crow directly. Nice try, no cigar. I will say this, however: There is no black person in America who hates slavery more than I do. In fact, I hope the evil slave traders who brought all those African slaves to these shores, are roasting in Hell for what they did to this country.

Statements of cause and effect should never be construed as excuses. Rationality and rationalization are very different.
CB9678 December 26, 2011 at 03:57 PM
I am more offended by the fact he can not spell Abingdon correctly and claims to be from Harford County!
Jane Regner December 26, 2011 at 04:56 PM
Wow, strange how this has been spun into every direction. I had just walked out of Gabriels and was on the sidewalk when the boys ran by yelling that they had been robed and he had a gun help us! They went around the corner and a gun shot rang out. If you need to lay blaim on these occurrences, try desperation, frustration, addiction, just to start !
Karl Schuub December 27, 2011 at 05:14 PM
Regardless of whatever the racial issues might be and thier cultural/economic cause the fact is within the past month or two we've had strong arm robberies at the chicken place, the Subway and the bank; all in Constant Friendship and if we go back a few months beyond that, we also have carjackings and parking lot stickups. I might suggest the convenience of easy in and out are the very same draws for criminals. I wouldn't shop Constant Friendship unless I had to - there's nothing down there you can't get elsewhere without the risk.

Proud to be a liberal, you should move to DC with the other liberals. Nothing in Nicks comment is racist at all! Actually the truth, but no where does he cite ethnicities or race. Liberals...the downfall of death of our once great society
