Fallston Man, Police End Standoff Peacefully

After Harford County sheriff's deputies attempted to serve a summons, the man refused to come out for 90 minutes.

A 52-year-old Fallston man is receiving medical attention after a 90-minute standoff with police that began when officers attempted to serve him a court summons Tuesday.

deputies were in the 2000 block of Durham Road from about 4:50 p.m. to 6:20 p.m.

"At approximately 4:50 p.m., Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies, while attempting to serve a summons to a resident in the 2000 block of Durham Road, encountered a person believed to be alone in the residence who demonstrated signs of possible emotional distress," said Monica Worrell, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.

The man is being transported away from his home for a medical evaluation.

Durham Road was closed at Furnace Road during the incident.
