Person Dies in Abingdon House Fire

A fire was reported in the 700 block of Lombard Court Saturday evening.

Update (7:27 p.m.)—One person died in an Abingdon house fire Saturday evening, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office announced.

Firefighters responded to a house fire in the 700 block of Lombard Court in the Abingdon area at about 5 p.m. on Saturday, , spokesman for the Harford County Fire and EMS Association, confirmed.

Firefighters brought the fire under control by about 5:45 p.m., according to Gardiner.

While battling the blaze, firefighters found an unidentified person dead in a second floor bedroom, according to a release from the fire marshal's office.

Deputy state fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire and where it began. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore is responsible for identifying the remains, according to the release.
