Forest Hill Accident Involves Rescue, Hazmat, Road Closure
A dump truck overturned during an accident in Forest Hill Thursday afternoon.
A portion of MD Route 543 in Forest Hill remained closed to traffic Thursday afternoon following an accident that spilled fuel along the roadway and sent one man to a nearby trauma center.
Before 1:30 p.m. Thursday, a dump truck hauling dirt overturned in the area of Chestnut Hill Road and MD Route 543 in Forest Hill, according to, spokesman for .
Gardiner said the bed of the dump truck detached in the crash and pinned the driver inside the cab.

After 45 minutes of rescue efforts, involving 30 personnel from , the man was extracted from the truck, according to Gardiner.
The man was flown by medevac helicopter to a nearby trauma center for treatment. Two firefighters from Bel Air were also taken to a local hospital for treatment of heat-related issues.

The overturned truck spilled fuel on the ground, and a Harford County Hazmat team was called to the scene.
MD Route 543 remained closed to traffic between Chestnut Hill Road and Conowingo Road as of 3 p.m., according to Maryland State Police.
