Fuel Spill Snarled Traffic on I-95 at Mountain Road

Hazardous materials specialists were called to evaluate.

A fuel spill snarled traffic on Interstate 95 Thursday night for motorists headed north near Mountain Road/MD Route 152, officials said.

Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported that its crews were at the scene, where fuel was leaking from the saddle tank of a tractor trailer.

According to the fire company, Harford County's Hazmat Response Team was requested to respond after 7 p.m.

After 8 p.m., the two right lanes, the slow shoulder and the on-ramp to I-95 north were closed, according to transportation officials, who said the incident was reported at 6:55 p.m.

The Maryland Transportation Authority said two right lanes remained blocked after 9:30 p.m. and by 10 p.m., the scene had cleared.
