Harford County Moviegoers May See Strict Costume Restrictions

In the wake of a deadly shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, CO, Harford County law enforcement and Regal Entertainment staff are aware and prepared.

“We have an awareness of the incident and rest assured, appropriate planning is in place," Monica Worrell, public information officer with the , said Friday.

During a midnight showing of "," a masked gunman went into an Aurora, CO, movie theater, tossed canisters of gas and opened fire, according to a Los Angeles Times story.

A dozen people were killed and more than 50 people were injured in the shooting, the story states.

Locally, it was a quiet night at the movies. Worrell said Friday there were no incidents reported at either Regal Cinemas or Flagship Cinemas—Harford County's only two movie theaters—Thursday night into Friday.

She added that deputies were in the area conducting traffic enforcement.

Neither Worrell nor Regal staff would comment on what kind of safety measures are in place. However, both assure the public they are prepared for the worst.

"Moviegoers should expect stricter controls over character attire and accessories at our theatres," wrote Russ Nunley, Vice President Marketing & Communications for Regal, in an email to Patch. "Details regarding our security measures are not discussed publicly for obvious reasons."
