Harford County Volunteer Firefighters to Help in Derailment Response

Responders from six companies are headed to help Baltimore County crews handle Tuesday's crash on CSX tracks.

Harford County units are assisting in the response to Tuesday's CSX train derailment near the Baltimore City-Baltimore County line.

Volunteers from Aberdeen, Bel Air, Abingdon, Jarrettsville, Joppa Magnolia and Fallston volunteer fire companies are "relocating to Baltimore County stations," according to a Facebook post from the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. "Harford County stations and apparatus will continued to be staffed by additional volunteer fire and EMS personnel to handle both Harford and Baltimore County emergencies."

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company announced it was sending an engine to help with response to the derailment.

As of 3:16 p.m. Tuesday, a large plume of smoke was still visible on a state traffic camera on Pulaski Highway at Interstate 695.
