Harford Deputy's Funeral Expected to Disrupt Traffic

The Harford County last week, will be laid to rest Wednesday and the sheriff's office warns the funeral services and procession may cause traffic delays.

Cpl. Charles Licato died after an early morning car crash in Darlington on Sept. 6 while he was on duty. His is the third death in the line-of-duty  since the sheriff's office's inception in 1774.

Licato will be laid to rest in Bel Air on Wednesday and the sheriff's office sent out an alert message Monday afternoon warning drivers of potential delays as a result of the services and funeral procession.

Monday and Tuesday at McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Mountain Christian Church on Mountain Road in Joppa with the burial service to follow.

The funeral procession is expected to leave the church around 12:30 p.m. and head northwest on Mountain Road to U.S. Route 1 North. The procession will then exit onto MD Route 924, or South Rock Spring Road, and turn left onto Moores Mill Road.

Cpl. Licato will be buried at , located off Moores Mill Road.

"Residents can expect traffic delays, road closures and a high volume of traffic on Mountain Road, Route 1, Moores Mill Road and Rock Spring Road between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.," sheriff's office spokeswoman said in a county connect message.
