As first reported , police responded to an alleged abduction attempt in Abingdon. Police are now offering a reward of up to $2,000 for tips—contact Cpl. At approximately 6:37 a.m., a 14-year-old boy was standing at his bus stop at St. Clair Drive and Cardinal Way in Abingdon when he was approached by a dark work van with tinted windows, sheriff's office spokeswoman Monica Worrell told Patch.

A statement from the sheriff's office Wednesday said the bus stop was near the intersection of St. Clair Drive and Benefit Court—one block away from the initial location.
The man threatened the boy and tried to get him in the van, but the boy ran home. The boy's mother then called 911, Worrell said.
