HdG Woman, 33, Found Dead at Motel Edgewood

Police said there appears to be "no foul play" in the death of Melissa Marie Miceli.

"Foul play does not appear to be involved" in the death of a 33-year-old Havre de Grace woman found at the Motel Edgewood Friday afternoon, Maryland State Police said in a statement released Monday.

Troopers found Melissa Marie Miceli, 33, in a room at the motel on the 2200 block of Pulaski Highway in Edgewood on Dec. 14, according to the statement.

Paramedics from the Joppa-Magnolia Fire Company pronounced Miceli dead at 1:04 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, police reported.

"At this point in the investigation, foul play does not appear to be involved in the death," Maryland State Police said, "but troopers are waiting on autopsy results as the investigation continues."

As of Tuesday morning, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner reported that the cause and manner of Miceli's death have not been determined.

It could take six to eight weeks for investigators to obtain and review toxicology reports, Detective Sergeant Jeffrey Thomas of Maryland State Police told Patch. He reiterated that police believed there was no foul play.

Maryland State Police troopers from the Bel Air Barracks executed a search warrant at the Motel Edgewood, which is standard in a death investigation when there are no witnesses, Thomas said. Police found a purse, wallet and clothing belonging to Miceli, which Thomas said were processed and returned to her family.

Miceli was listed in court records as residing on the 500 block of Bourbon Street in Havre de Grace and had been staying at the motel for an unknown length of time.

She was recently released from Harford County Detention Center after spending six months in jail. Records show that Miceli had been in custody at the Harford County Detention Center from May 30 to Dec. 3 on charges of theft under $1,000, escape and violation of probation.
