Investigation Ongoing Into $400K Townhouse Fire

The Wednesday morning fire seriously damaged two townhouses in Bel Air.

An early Wednesday morning fire in Bel Air that caused about $400,000 damage remains under investigation.

Around 2 a.m. the fire started on the deck of a home in the 900 block of Pentwood Court, according to a release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

The fire went to second alarm and about 50 firefighters from Bel Air, Level, Abingdon, Fallston and Joppa-Magnolia volunteer fire companies contained the blaze within 30 minutes, the release states.

One firefighter was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening after falling from the second floor of the home to the first, Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Fire and EMS Association said at the scene.

A second firefighter was treated at the scene for heat-related issues, Gardiner said.

The fire caused about $300,000 in structural damage and about $100,000 damage to contents, the release states.

The preliminary cause of the fire remains under investigation.
