Joppa Car Fire Investigated As Possible Arson

The fire caused about $6,000 damage.

A stolen car was found ablaze Monday night in Joppa and investigators believe the fire could be an act of arson.

Around 8:24 p.m. a passerby noticed a car aflame in the 2700 block of Winters Run Road in Joppa, according to a release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

Five firefighters from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company controlled the fire within 15 minutes, but not before the flames and smoke caused about $6,000 damage to the vehicle, the release states.

The 2007 Toyota four-door vehicle was reported stolen in in the middle of December 2012.

Members of the Harford County Sheriff's Office joined deputy state fire marshals and firefighters at the scene.
