Bel Air House Fire Caused $75K in Damage

The fire on Kalmia Road was reported just before 4 a.m. Saturday.

Harford County firefighters responded to a residential blaze off Conowingo Road Saturday morning while temperatures were in the single digits, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS.

The house fire in the 2100 block of Kalmia Road, off US Route 1, was reported at 3:51 a.m., Gardiner said.

Crews were working defensively to fight the fire at approximately 4:30 a.m., Gardiner said, because the structural integrity of the home made it unsafe for crews to enter. He said the home was unoccupied and had been used for storage.

Fifty firefighters from Bel AirJarrettsvilleDarlingtonLevel and Abingdon helped put out the blaze, which they brought under control in 45 minutes, Gardiner said.

According to Gardiner, the blaze resulted in $75,000 in damage.

Firefighters cleared the scene at 6:53 a.m., according to Gardiner, who said
there were no injuries and nobody was home at the time of the fire.
