Knock, Knock! Firefighters to Check for Safety in Edgewood

Emergency personnel will be equipped with free smoke detectors.

Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and the Harford County Department of Emergency Services are making house calls on Saturday.

Emergency personnel will gather at the Joppa-Magnolia headquarters at 1403 Old Mountain Road South at 9:30 a.m., then proceed to Grempler Way in Edgewood.

First responders will check to ensure homes have clearly marked house numbers and knock on doors to check that residents have properly installed smoke detectors, according to a statement from Joppa-Magnolia.

Joppa-Magnolia members will install smoke alarms in residences that need them, the statement said.

Smoke detectors, batteries and fire safety literature will be provided by the Harford County Department of Emergency Services, the statement said.
