Lightning Strike Causes Fire on Fairway Drive: Harford Officials

Harford County first responders said it took 20 minutes to knock the blaze.

A home in Bel Air caught fire after lightning struck it Wednesday night, according to the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association.

At 10:57 p.m. on Wednesday, the Abingdon Fire Company and neighboring departments responded to a house fire in the 2500 block of Fairway Drive in Bel Air, the association reported.

It took 20 minutes to knock the fire down, according to the association.

When crews arrived, there was reportedly fire coming from the roof.

A lightning strike caused the fire, according to Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS, which reported there were no injuries as a result of the blaze.

The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported that its crews helped check for any extension of the fire behind walls and in the ceiling before personnel left the scene at 12:45 a.m.
