Report of 'Intoxicated Tractor Driver' Leads to Arrest, Escape, Arrest

A man attempted an escape act Saturday after he was arrested for a tractor theft in Forest Hill, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Brian Myers, 42, of no fixed address, was charged with burglary, theft and escape from custody.

Deputies were called to Phillips Mill and West Jarrettsville roads at12:38 a.m. Saturday for a report of an intoxicated tractor driver on the road. Deputies did not find the tractor. Hours later, at 4:53 a.m., deputies were called again about a similar tractor and, while searching the area, were told the tractor was now pulling a snow blower, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Deputies found the tractor in the 1200 block of West Jarrettsville Road in Forest Hill, with a man later identified as Myers. The man provided a false name to deputies, who, upon determining his correct name, found he was wanted on a warrant for probation violation. He was arrested on that warrant.

While deputies were speaking with the owner of the tractor and snow blower, Myers somehow escaped through the rear window of a patrol car. Deputies, K-9 units and a state police helicopter located Myers, who was apprehended again near Jarrettsville and Cooptown roads, according to sheriff's officials.

Myers remains at the Harford County Detention Center where, as ofSaturday evening, he was awaiting a hearing in front of a court commissioner.
