Report: Man Killed on I-95 Ran from Police into Traffic

The man ran from police into traffic, after officers discovered several rifles in his vehicle.

The man who died Wednesday morning on I-95 near Joppa was fleeing police after officers found several rifles in his vehicle, reports The Baltimore Sun.

Maryland Transportation Authority police stopped the man's vehicle shortly after 10 a.m. for a seatbelt violation on northbound I-95 near the Mountain Road exit.

Officers found the driver was in violation of a rental agreement, so they began to impound the vehicle, according to the report.

At around 11 a.m., the officers reportedly found three rifles in the trunk, which prompted the man to take off running, heading into traffic, where he was eventually struck by a minivan. Responding paramedics pronounced the man dead on the scene.

Police have not released the man's name.
