Pedestrian Hit on Joppa Farm Road in Serious Condition

Paramedics said the woman had severe injuries.

A woman was airlifted to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after being hit by a vehicle on New Year's Eve in Joppa, according to Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, the fire company responded to a collision on Pulaski Highway and Joppa Farm Road.

A 72-year-old woman from New York was walking on Joppa Farm Road when she was hit by a 2003 Dodge Caravan, police told The Baltimore Sun.

"Due to the severity of her injuries, a Maryland State Police medevac helicopter was requested," Joppa-Magnolia said. The helicopter landed in front of the Joppatowne Flea Market in a parking lot, south of Trimble Road.

The woman was in serious but stable condition, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The Harford County Sheriffs Office was handing the subsequent investigation, and its spokesman reportedly said the crash was attributed to pedestrian error, as the victim was wearing dark clothing and not walking in the crosswalk.
