Missing Abingdon Girl Found

An Abingdon teen reported missing Monday was found safe out of state early this morning.

A 16-year-old Abingdon girl who was reported missing on Monday, was found in South Carolina early Tuesday morning.

Bethany Eder was found in Aiken, SC, around 2:40 a.m, officials said.

Eder, a student, was after she and her parents had an argument over an inappropriate relationship she was involved in, according to Monica Worrell, public information officer with the .

She was seen later that morning writing a letter at her home in the 1400 block of Valley Forge Way, according to Worrell. Her family later found a note from Bethany saying she needed a fresh start and was leaving home, Worrell said.

Around 9:30 a.m. Monday, her parents called police and reported she was missing.

Flyers being distributed Monday asked for help finding her and urged people with information about her whereabouts to call police.
