One person was in grave condition after a shooting Tuesday night in Joppa, according to Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

Firefighters and Harford County Sheriff's Office deputies were at the scene of the shooting in the 400 block of Gilmor Road shortly after 10 p.m., the fire company reported.

Paramedics took the victim to Upper Chesapeake, and the patient was later transferred to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesman Eddie Hopkins.

The incident remained under investigation just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to Hopkins. "It is not clear yet whether we actually have a shooting involving a suspect or a self-inflicted gunshot wound," Hopkins said.

According to Hopkins, family members were being interviewed as police investigated.
