Police: Roommate Dispute Leads To Abingdon Stabbing

The victim was stabbed multiple times and his roommate was taken into custody.

An Abingdon man was airlifted to a regional trauma center Friday night after he was stabbed multiple times in a dispute with his roommate, apparently over a cell phone, police said.

Around 9:45 p.m. deputies with the Harford County Sheriff's Office were called to the man's home in the 100 block of Waldon Road in Abingdon, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

When deputies arrived, they learned two roommates had been in a fight and one had allegedly stabbed the other, the statement said.

Detectives said Antoine Eugene Parker-Washington, 27, stabbed his roommate, Michael Darren Thomas, also 27, sheriff's office spokesman Edward Hopkins said.

"It’s believed that the dispute between them stemmed over a cell phone," Hopkins said.

Thomas was treated by paramedics from the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company then flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment, according to police. His status was unknown Saturday morning, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Hopkins said.

Parker-Washington was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air for treatment of a lower leg injuy sustained in the fight, Hopkins said.

Parker-Washington is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and reckless endagerment. He is being held at the Harford County Detention Center in lieu of $500,000 bail.
