Recreational Burn Sends 2 Children to Hospital

One person was taken by helicopter to a regional burn center, a fire official said.

Two children were hospitalized from injuries related to a recreational burn Saturday evening, a Harford fire official said.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company and the Harford County Sheriff's Office found two pediatric burn patients when they responded to the 1300 block of Gunston Road around 8 p.m. Saturday, according to Harford County Fire & EMS spokeswoman Jennifer Chenworth Price.

One person was taken by ambulance for treatment, while the second was flown by helicopter to a regional burn center, Price said.

The injuries were not life-threatening, Price told The Baltimore Sun.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal was handling the investigation, according to Price, who said it was standard procedure for the fire marshal to be notified anytime someone was burned by a fire.
