Salt Truck Hit Pedestrian: Officials

The crash was reported after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

A pedestrian was hit by a State Highway Administration salt truck in Bel Air Wednesday night, according to officials.

The pedestrian had "serious injuries" after being hit in the 2400 block of Creswell Road, Harford County Fire & EMS reported at approximately 8:20 p.m.

The victim, an 18-year-old woman, was taken by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was listed in critical but stable condition, according to Fox 45.

Maryland State Police said that preliminary investigation indicated pedestrian error caused the crash, WBAL reported.

MD Route 543 was shut down at Wheel Road from 8:09 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team reported.
