Sheriff's Deputies Offer Crime Prevention Tips In Fallston

In light of recent burglaries in the Fallston area, the Harford County Sheriff's mobile crime prevention office was in the community Wednesday, and will be again next week.

If you noticed police cars and flashing lights in the area of the Fallston Fire Company's substation on Fallston Road tonight, you didn't stumbled upon a crime scene.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office's mobile crime prevention outreach office was stationed at the fire house at 2108 Fallston Road Wednesday night to meet with residents and discuss home and personal safety tips as well as accept any unneeded medications for disposal, Monica Worrell, public information officer with the sheriff's office, said.

The prevention outreach office will be in the Fallston area again next week at the Veronica "Roni" Chenowith Center in the 1700 block of Fallston Road.

Deputies will be at the site from 5-8 p.m. on next week.

The visits are in part due to a string of daytime burglaries in the Fallston community, Worrell said.

There have been five daytime burglaries in the area during the month of February, and police believe the crimes may be related.

In most of these cases, the burglar broke in through the back of the house, Worrell said.

Homes on Brandon Hunt Lane, Copperwood Way and Moores Road were broken into, according to police reports.

The sheriff's office sent out a county connect message to more than 3,000 homes in the Fallston area to notify residents of the burglaries and about an increased police presence in the area as a result, Worrell said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the burglaries.

"We’re working the investigation diligently," Worrell said.
