Man Dead, Woman Critical After Domestic Shooting: Harford County Sheriff

A domestic dispute in north Harford County was fatal, the sheriff's office reported.

A woman was in critical condition and a man was deceased after an incident Friday night in north Harford County that the Harford County Sheriff's Office described as a "domestic-related shooting and suicide."

After 7 p.m. on Friday, deputies responded to the 3700 block of Burkins Road in Street upon receiving a report of shots fired, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies found a 27-year-old man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a 29-year-old woman shot in the abdomen, according to a report from the sheriff's office.

The woman was treated by members of the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company before being flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was listed in critical condition Friday evening, according to the report.

Police said the man and woman had been romantically involved, and when he arrived at the residence Friday, he began damaging her vehicle.

They got into an argument when she confronted him, and during the dispute, he pulled a handgun and shot her, police said.

Then he turned the gun on himself, according to the report. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The identities of the victims were being withheld as officials notified the next of kin, according to the sheriff's office.
