Teen Could Face Charges In Father's Death

Charges were pending against a Bel Air teenager Tuesday morning in connection with the death of his father.

Charges are pending against a 16-year-old teenager after police say he admitted to shooting his father to death at their Bel Air home and dumping his body in Aberdeen.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the family's home in the 800 block of Moores Mill Road in Bel Air around 10:45 p.m. Monday, said , spokeswoman for the .

The 911 caller said a teenage boy had allegedly shot his father, said Worrell.

Deputies found blood outside the family's home. After forcing their way inside, deputies found signs of a shooting and notified all police agencies in the area to be on the lookout for a vehicle they believed the son was driving, Worrell said.

During the early morning hours on Tuesday, police recognized the car in the area of East Jarrettsville and Route 24 and pursued it until the car crashed in the area of Route 924 and Linwood Road near  Worrell said.

No one was injured in the crash and deputies took the teen into custody.

The boy allegedly told deputies he had shot his father and dumped the body near Gilbert Road in Aberdeen, Worrell said.

Police recovered the body of the boy's father, who was 57 years old, in the 800 block of Gilbert Road at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

No names had been released and charges were pending against the teen as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, Worrell said.

My daughter is shocked. She went to achool with him. She said he is "nice" kid. Wow. So sad for everyone involved. No one should judge this young man yet. No one deserves to be shot, but there is some obviously disturbing baggage this young man carries around. Baggage usually comes from the environment we live in.

Why are people saying he is eligible for the death penalty? Even though he is charged as an adult, he can not be eligible for execution as he was 16 at the time of the shooting. Roper v. Simmons, 543 U.S. 551 (2005)
