Tractor Trailer Crashes into Woods on Bypass

Part of Maryland Route 24 was closed for six hours Thursday.

A Landsdowne man crashed a tractor trailor into the woods on the Bel Air Bypass on Thursday afternoon.

Thomas Wingrove, 56, was traveling south on U.S. Route 1 when he crossed all lanes of northbound traffic and entered a "wooded area," according to Maryland State Police.

Wingrove was transported to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma center by the state police medi-vac after suffering minor injuries. He is in stable condition, police said.

The cause of the accident for the 2003 Freightlner is under investigation. Northbound Maryland Route 24 to U.S. Route 1 was closed for about six hours Thursday.
