Tanker, SUV Collide on Mountain Road at I-95

Mountain Road was closed at the exit from Interstate 95 Friday morning.

One person had minor injuries after a collision between an SUV and a tanker that blocked part of MD Route 152 in Joppa for more than two hours Friday morning, fire officials said.

The SUV was found trapped under a tractor trailer shortly after 9 a.m. at the intersection of Route 152/Mountain Road and I-95, according to a report by the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

The driver of the SUV was treated for minor injuries by Joppa-Magnolia paramedics and refused transport to the hospital; the tanker driver was not injured, according to the report.

The Harford County Hazardous Materials Response Team was called to investigate since the tractor-trailer was hauling gasoline. While no leak was found, a hazmat technician remained on the scene to ensure there was no damage to the tanker during the towing process, the report stated.

Mountain Road was blocked at the ramp from southbound I-95 for more than two hours, according to the report, which stated Maryland State Police officials were investigating the crash.

By noon, the road was clear, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation.
