UPDATE: 2 Flown To Shock Trauma After Accident

An afternoon accident sent one man in his twenties and another patient to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Two people were flown to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore after an accident at Route 22 and Moores Mill Road this afternoon.

Shortly before 1 p.m., a Honda and a Subaru collided atRoute 22 and Moores Mill Road in Bel Air, according to Maryland State Police.

Leeland Waltermeier, 80, was driving the Honda and Justin Pawnell, 18, was driving the Subaru, according to Lt. Charles Moore with the state police.

One man in his twenties was trapped inside one of the vehicles and was extracted by emergency personnel within 15 minutes, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman forHarford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. A medevac helicopter was on its way to land at Todd Road and Brierhill Road around 1:15 p.m. to transport the injured man to Shock Trauma.

Emergency personnel asked if the medevac could also transport Waltermeier.

It was unclear whether the other driver or a passenger from one of the vehicles was flown to Shock Trauma. There was no information available on how many people were involved in the accident or the extent of injuries.
