The criminal jury trial for 17-year-old Robert Conley Richardson III was initially slated to begin next week, but has since been postponed. A separate hearing in the case is scheduled to take place Jan. 16 with a criminal jury trial scheduled for May 14.

Richardson, of the 800 block of Moores Mill Road, was indicted in February on charges of first- and second-degree murder and felony use of a firearm in connection with the shooting death of his father, Robert Richardson Jr., on Jan. 9, 2012. He was 16 at the time of the shooting.

The younger Richardson had a history of running away from home. Friends and supporters have alleged the younger Richardson experienced abuse at the hands of his father and those circumstances lead to the fatal events of last year.

Richardson has been held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center since his arrest.

Kirsten, why was a postponement granted?

I guess they figure the more time that passes, the less the public will care. It won't change the fact that he is still a murderer.

The trial is delayed because the attorney who took the case pro bono waited almost a year before deciding that he could not continue with the case and turned it over to the State's Public Defenders Office. The new attorneys need time to put together a case. And Shari, before you convict this child of murder, maybe you should make sure you have all of the facts. If he was defending himself, it was not murder - I don't know if that is the case or not, but neither do you. How about we wait until it goes to trial and let a jury decide? On the other hand, it has been well established that this child suffered significant abuse, and personally, I would like to be a jurist in the trial of all of the people who knew of the abuse and did nothing. If you ask me, that is the greater crime here.

You are a clown, the only thing established is he didnt want to do what he was told and murdered his father in his bed, dragged his body out of the house into a car and transported it somewhere else...When he gets out why dont you have him live with your family????
Eileen Siple January 04, 2013 at 01:09 AM
I'm a clown? Where did you get this information, June? Seems to me as if you are making some assumptions, without any direct knowledge. To answer your question, yes, Bob could come life with me and, in fact, I have said this to his attorneys. He's not evil. He is a damaged child who survived years of horror and abuse. Why aren't you asking why the system never stepped in to help him? Neighbors say that they called the police when they witnessed abuse, but CPS claims they never got a report? Every child should have a right to feel safe, June Bugg, and our system failed him, over and over again. Every time he tried to escape, the police found him and dragged him back to his abuser, in spite of the fact that he told them he was afraid. And honestly, it is very hard to take anyone seriously who goes by the name of June Bugg.

Feel sorry for all the bleeding hearts that have been sending money to the detention center so this murderer could buy noodles and orange drink. The other two kids should be in jail too.

You must be from that small group of women that decided from day one that having a tough childhood justifies murder. This guy's own brother who lived in the house - was much more familiar with the real story than you'll ever be said there wasn't abuse - wearing old clothes isn't abuse. You're entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts.
ShannonM January 04, 2013 at 03:45 PM
I agree it's sad IF this child was abused but it doesn't give him the right to take someone's life. If people have the mindset we can go around killing, stabbing or shooting a person because they have been abused or bullied then this country is in BIG trouble!!!!
Melissa January 04, 2013 at 04:57 PM
If you don't know the real truth about him being abused or not, why are you defending him? So you have no direct knowledge because you weren't there. Anybody could say that they called CPS just so they wouldn't look bad and not done anything about it of he were being abused. You have no right to judge either. Did you ever stop and think that maybe he abused his father? So in reality when the trial is done and those neighbors take the stand and state what they saw and the other relatives who lived in the house testify, thats when we will know the real story...

Unce unce unce unce, that's what it sounds like when I'm djing at a club, with the bass and tweaters.

You apparently live in a world where you ignore facts and must teach your kids that everything they do wrong is someone else's fault. You posted on the original story where his own brother wrote that there was no abuse and the Harford County Sheriff's Office said there was no evidence of abuse. He LOVES Insane Clown Posse which is a verified "gang" culture with the FBI. You need to definately wake up and smell the roses. This THUG needs to be put in adult prison where he belongs and never see the light of day again.

People should wait until the truth comes out and stop lieing about what happen.

Eileen Siple, the nosy liar. It has not been established he was abused, only a tale made up by loser kids who wanted their 15 minutes of fame. You should be ashamed, supporting a cold blooded killer, while a decent man is dead, and was tossed in a pond like a bag of garbage. I bet you're a liberal. Go seek mental help.

who is lying?
shari b January 08, 2013 at 04:15 AM
eileen's biggest problem is that she sees richardson as a child and keeps referring to him as a child. she is just trying to evoke sympathy for him on that issue! he is NOT a child. he is a young adult. under 12 is a CHILD! i am raising four grandchildren since their mother's death, many years ago. the 9 and 11 yr old are children. the 15 and 16 yr old are not. they are young adults in high school. mcdonalds will hire them for work at this age. they can soon get their driver licenses. mcdonalds's doesn't hire children. mva does not issue driver lisenses to CHILDREN. he is NOT a child.

To add, he committed a cold blooded man's crime, a murder of his father. Too bad nosey bleeding heart liberals like Eileen think they know everything when they know nothing and make up everything as they go along. Let the "kid" sit in jail for 40 or 50 years, then let him live with the Sipples. Maybe he will kill all of them, or just one.
