Twitter Reactions To Threat At Harford Community College

Police responded to campus around 10:40 a.m. in response to an emotionally disturbed person threatening to harm himself and others.

It was a fearful morning for some students who were faced with a threat of violence and strong police presence on campus Monday.

were called at 10:40 a.m. to the college on the 400 block of Thomas Run Road in Bel Air after recieving reports of an emotionally disturbed student making "dangerous threats" to harm himself and others, said , public information officer with the sheriff's office.

Deputies took the male student into custody without incident then transported him to a local hospital for evaluation, Worrell said. The student did not have a weapon when he was taken into custody.

By 11 a.m., social media, including Twitter, was filled with messages from students wondering what was going on, fearing for their safety, sharing pictures and repeating what they'd heard.
