Woman Found Shot on New Year's Eve in Joppa Dies

The 52-year-old woman died shortly after midnight on New Year's Day.


The woman found shot in Joppa on New Year's Eve died shortly after midnight on Wednesday, according to the Harford County police.

Police have not yet released the identity of the 52-year-old woman pending an autopsy, although they said her family has been notified. Police said the wound was self-inflicted.

Officers found the woman around 9:53 p.m. on Tuesday night suffering from a gunshot wound in a residence in the 400 block of Gilmor Road. Police transported her to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center and she was later moved to Maryland Shock Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning.

The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the manner and cause of death.
