Woman Dies After Accident on Route 40 in Joppa

The crash on Pulaski Highway happened near Joppa Road at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A woman died after she was hit by a vehicle on the side of the road at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in Joppa, according to reports.

Nora Schleicher, 59, of Baltimore got into a fender bender with another vehicle, then both parties pulled over into the right lane of Pulaski Highway near Joppa Road, where a car swerved onto the shoulder to avoid hitting the vehicles and ended up hitting Schleicher, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Members of Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company transported the woman in "grave condition" to Franklin Square Hospital. The fire department said the incident took place near Sheetz, which is in the 600 block of Pulaski Highway in Joppa.

The crash was on the eastbound side of Pulaski Highway, according to WBAL TV.

Schleicher was pronounced dead at the hospital, ABC 2 News reported.
