Candidates React Following Unofficial Election Results

Edward Hopkins and Susan Burdette express their thoughts following the announcement Tuesday that they are among the three unofficial winners of the Bel Air Town Election.

"I'm very humbled, very honored," Reier said following the announcement.

Reier said he appreciated the trust and confidence the voters indicated they have in him and promised to do his best to live up to that.

"When you go into the election, you're always hoping you've been able to get your message across," Reier said.

Provisional and absentee ballots will be counted at town hall 10 a.m., Thursday but the total number of provisional and absentee votes is not large enough to change the outcome.

Exactly 700 votes were cast Tuesday. Several selected a write-in candidate. Robert Reier received 463 votes, Edward Hopkins received 422 votes, Susan Burdette received 368 votes, Greg Adolph received 312 votes and Terence Hanley received 206 votes.
