APG To Conduct Large Detonations This Week

Aberdeen Proving Ground will be the source of large detonations.

Don't mind the booms.

will be the source for large detonations likely to be heard throughout the Harford County area this week.

The following message was sent Sunday afternoon from the county's emergency operations center:

"Good Afternoon this is Emergency Manager Rick Ayers with an important message. The test center will be conducting several large detonations that will occur between Monday and Friday of this week. Although, the detonations will be heard in the County there is no reason for alarm. Thanks and have a great afternoon."

Aberdeen Proving Ground conducts regular testing through the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC), which directs anyone with questions to call 410-278-1147 or 800-688-8705.

Testing may be rescheduled in the event of poor weather conditions, according to ATC.

But it sounds as though you may be exposed to some serious gasses.

I grew up on Webster Lapidum RD in the 70s and 80s. The testing literally would shake the house on a regular basis. All the windows were separated from their panes after so many years of absorbing the shock waves.

What happened to the large explosions expected this week? I didn't hear anything.

The activity I heard was definitely less than the week before, and well below average in post 9/11 testing. Who knows, maybe they gassed us all in a top secret experiment.
