Bobcat Sculpture Unveiled At Bel Air High School

The sculpture representing the school's mascot is currently without an official name.

A ferocious bobcat now stands watch over Bel Air High School's sports fields.

The sculpture, which was , was installed this week and officially unveiled during a ceremony at the school Tuesday afternoon.

Don Dick and his sister matched the money raised by the Bel Air Cultural Arts Commission to help them reach their financial goal.

Dick explained he and his sister felt strongly about helping to fund the sculpture, in part, because, "we have lived other places, but Bel Air will always be our home."

The bronze bobcat sculpture stands atop a pedestal inside the gates to Bobcat Stadium. The piece, designed by local artist Jim Butcher and completed by a Texas artist, is expected to be dedicated to former Bel Air football coach Al Cesky.

Dozens attended the Tuesday ceremony to see the sculpture for the first time.
