Harford County Executive David Craig on Tuesday called retiring state Sen. Nancy Jacobs "a strong advocate" for the county.

Jacobs announced Tuesday she will not seek a fifth term in the state senate in 2014.

“While it will be a shame to lose such a strong ally in the Senate, no one can fault her for her desire to spend more time with her family and to enjoy those things in life that the schedule of a legislator too infrequently permits," Craig said in a statement. "I am happy for her, and she can look back on her time in the General Assembly with pride."

Craig praised Jacobs' efforts on bills including Jessica's Law and her push for gun rights legislation.
