Bel Air Commissioners To Vote On Raises

A cost of living adjustment and police department promotions are on the agenda for the first town meeting of 2012.

A public hearing and a vote on a budget amendment that would allow for a 2 percent cost of living adjustment raise for all town employees is scheduled for the Town of first meeting in 2012.

At last week's work session, Town Administrator Chris Schlehr explained there was a request for a 1.5 percent increase for all employees when the town first discussed the current fiscal year budget. That request was not approved.

At the Dec. 19 meeting, the board introduced a budget amendment which would allow for a 2 percent raise for the second half of this fiscal year, FY 12, that would go into effect this month. The public hearing and vote on the amendement are both scheduled for tonight's meeting.
