Craig: Consider Harford For A Casino

Harford County Executive David Craig asks the state for gaming consideration.

Harford County Executive David Craig recently sent a letter to Annapolis asking for the state to consider Harford County when looking to expand the state's gaming industry.

See the letter in the PDF included with this post.

Currently, Cecil County has a casino, with Anne Arundel County's facility opening this week.

TELL US: Would you be in support of Harford County as a gaming facility location? Where would you like to see one built? Leave a comment.

We've been to the one in Perryville once, and we would probably stop in more often if it were not just on the other side of too far.

It could do well since people will not have to pay the additional increased tolls(tax) of crossing the Susquehanna, but, because of that, the state will lose money and therefore reject the proposal.

A ridiculous suggestion to resolve the issue of where the funding should come to help cover state "county pensions". In my experience and life here in Harford County I find that most people who come to Harford County from other Maryland areas come for the sports. Families with children who play soccer and lacrosse and baseball etc. Place higher fees on the usage of those facilities HC maintains. Get paid sponsorship for these facilities from the multi billion sporting goods people. That's where the money is. I don't know anyone who spends their disposable income on casino activities. Craig is grasping at straws taking a leap with a mask covering his eyes. Or, perhaps Craig has other reasons for jumping on that band wagon.

Craig's real reason is simply to spotlight the governor's effort to give a nice payback to one of the only three counties in Md. that got him elected. O'Malley wants to throw a bone to heavily democratic PG County as a thank you for their votes. Craig doesn't really want a casino. He just wants to see the guv squirm a little while he tries to justify putting one in PG county. Remember this is Maryland.
