Edward Hopkins Named Harford Sheriff's Office Spokesman

Edward Hopkins currently serves in a number of leadership roles in Bel Air.

Bel Air's de facto mayor and Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company's chief has been named the newest spokesman for the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The announcement was made on the Bel Air fire company's official Facebook page Tuesday afternoon and confirmed by the sheriff's office Wednesday.

Hopkins served as a police officer with the sheriff's office for 29 years, retiring with a rank of Lieutenant, according to his profile on the Town of Bel Air's website.

He is no stranger to the communications job having previously filled the position for the sheriff's office. The lifelong Bel Air resident has most recently worked as Director of External Affairs with Maryland Emergency Management Agency, or MEMA.
