Commuters can expect heavy traffic on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge this weekend as thousands hit the sands of Ocean City Beach.

The Dew Tour skateboarding event, built by Mountain Dew, kicked off on the sands of Ocean City for the fourth consecutive year. The Dew Tour beach Championships started Thursday and continues through the weekend, bringing in thousands of fans and heavy traffic around the bridge.

“The continued support of the city for the past three years sets us up for an exciting return to Ocean city during our 10th Anniversary season,” said Eric Grilly, President of Alli Sports, a division of the NBV Sports Group, in a news release. “Working with the Mayor’s office, city council and all of the city departments, we have seen record attendance year after year, and enjoy creating an event that is influenced both by the physical environment of the beach and the action sports culture in the area.”

Dew Tour events include BMX Park, BMX Street Session, BMX Vert, Skateboard Bowl, Skateboard Legends Bowl, Skateboard Street Session, Skateboard Vert, Am Skateboard Shop Battle and Am Surf Shop Showdown.

The Maryland Transportation Authority will implement two-way traffic operations, weather permitting, to help speed up traffic, CBS DC reports. The best travel times to the Eastern Shore is before 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m. Saturday and before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m. Sunday.
