Former 1st District Congressman Kratovil Appointed Judge

Governor Martin O’Malley's office announced that Frank Michael Kratovil Jr. was appointed to the District Court for Queen Anne’s County on Wednesday.

UPDATE (7:38 p.m.)—, former congressman of Maryland's 1st District, was appointed to the District Court for Queen Anne’s County on Wednesday, 's office announced Wednesday evening.

Kratovil, a resident of Stevensville on the Eastern Shore, served as a Democratic congressman between 2009 and 2010, defeating then-State Sen. . Republican Harris defeated Kratovil in the .

Kratovil had been considered a viable opponent to Harris in the 2012 election, before he announced in November that he would not be seeking reelection, Gazette.Net reported.

Takirra Winfield, a spokeswoman for the governor's office, said running for the congressional seat would no longer be an option while serving as a judge.

"It would be a complete conflict," Winfield said.

Kratovil, who had most recently been working in the State's Attorney Office of Prince George's County, actively pursued and applied for the judgeship, according to Winfield.

The governor's office's press release outlined Kratovil's legal credentials, including his work as state’s attorney in Queen Anne’s County from 2002 to 2009 and criminal justice adviser in the governor’s Office of Crime Control & Prevention. He graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1994.

“I am honored to appoint Frank Kratovil to the Queen Anne’s County District Court,” O’Malley stated in a press release. “His strong work ethic, dedication to justice, and years of experience will make him an excellent judge.”

In November, a Cockeysville woman, 57-year-old Democrat , announced she planned to run against Harris in the upcoming election.

In June, that Harris had raised more than $276,000 for his 2012 reelection campaign.

The Universe is indifferent to your problems. Stop blaming congress, liberal and conservatives. The greatest gift we can get is gridlock. Gridlock stops Obamacare, it stops more tax cuts. Gridlock will stop spending and allow this economy to finally recover. No more spending on foreign entanglements, no more unemployment benefits, no spending at all. That will solve the economy no spending and time. And if you really want to turn the economy around sooner. Start working. If you can't get a job in your field, just get a job. If it doesn't pay enough, get another job; still not enough get another job. Hard work and ingenuity made America (and Maryland) great. your first goal should be survival, not leisure. If you have to work over 100 hours per week to survive, do it. If you want to work go to North Dakota. They are hiring entry level jobs that start at 50,000. Look it up. Be the change you want to see, not the one you vote politicians in for. This country and state have turned into entitled whiners. How does a state with the highest number of millionaires end up in debt? Because one party rules the roost and can enact any program or any project they want to pay their friends. spoils system. Its not unique to blue states red states have the same. But the best states are states that have active competition, where no party is safe. Dream of that Maryland. Dream big.

My man Marty, hats off to you and to your promoter Otto! You are George Washington, Warren Harding, Booker T. Washington and Vince Lombardi wrapped up in one brilliant policy-making package. You need to run for office. You could clean it up America. You're sounding a bit expansive, but what's wrong with a little mania? Tell me, buddy. Woo hoo! Happy New Year!
