Underage Drinking Crackdown on Tap in Bel Air Wednesday

Harford County's chief liquor inspector said Wednesday was the biggest day of the year for underage drinking.

The day before Thanksgiving is typically a time when drinkers are out in force, according to Harford County Chief Liquor Inspector Charles Robbins.

"It's one of the biggest drinking days of the year," Robbins said, noting that one group in particular tends to fill up.

Specifically, underage drinking spikes the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the Harford County Liquor Control Board reported in its November bulletin.

Robbins said that he will join state troopers at Looney's and MaGerk's, making sure people are using proper identification. The effort is paid for by a grant, Robbins said, and officers will be charging individuals attempting to use fake IDs.
