LIVE from Town Hall: Current Budget Decreased by More than $100,000

7:42 p.m. The commissioners voted 3–0 to approve the use of leftover grant funds to advance the Armory Marketplace Design project.

About $10,000 of a $35,000 state grant to document designs for the project will be used to pay Frederick Ward Associates to evaluate logistical necessities for the site, such as plumbing and electrical work.

Director of Economic Development Trish Heidenreich said this will clear the way for the completion of the $997,000 project.

"So my next step is to find a million dollars," Heidenreich said.

7:40 p.m. The three commissioners in attendance unanimously passed the resolution and decrease the fiscal year 2011 budget by about $103,000.

7:38 p.m. As a result of the town’s standard mid-year budget analysis, the town is voting to decrease the fiscal year 2011 budget by $103,661. The primary factor for the decrease is an approximate $130,000 shortfall in property tax revenue due to lower assessments.

Director of Finance Lisa Moody is discussing the specifics of the adjustments that led to the decrease to maintain a balanced budget. The staff recommends that the commissioners approve the amendments.

7:35 p.m. Commissioner Edward Hopkins is presenting a proclamation to three local members of the Boys & Girls Club to recognize them for their "good character and citizenship."

March 20–26 has been declared Boys & Girls Club Week in Bel AIr.

7:33 p.m. Susan O'Neil, an employee in economic development, is being recognized for her contributions to the town.

"She has an approachable personality and a willingness to take on assignments without hesitation," Carey said.

7:30 p.m. Recently-appointed Director of Planning Kevin Small makes his town meeting debut tonight.

"I want to make a special welcome to Mr. Small," said David Carey, chairman of the Board of Commissioners.
