'Test-Drive' New I-95 Express Toll Lanes

The Maryland Transportation Authority gives drivers a virtual tour of new lanes.

By: Elizabeth Janney

The I-95 Express is set to open near White Marsh in late 2014, but before then the Maryland Transportation Authority is offering drivers a sneak peek.

Recently, the state released a YouTube video giving a virtual tour of the new lanes on Interstate 95.

Spanning approximately 10 miles, two new express toll lanes in each direction of I-95 will run alongside the existing four general-purpose (non-tolled) lanes. The express lanes run from I-895 to just north of MD Route 43.

The system will use all-electronic toll collection with toll rates that vary by time of day. (See Related: MDTA Seeking Input for Public Tolling Plan.)
